INTELLIGENCE IS THE TORCH OF WISDOM

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was founded on January 13, 1913, by 22 collegiate women at Howard University to promote academic excellence and provide assistance to those in need. The Founders of Delta Sigma Theta envisioned an organization committed to sisterhood, scholarship, service, and addressing the social issues of the time. Since its founding, Delta Sigma Theta has become one of the preeminent service-based sororities, with more than 300,000 initiated members and over 1,000 chartered chapters worldwide.

Jenkins, Channing Dungey, Rashida Jones, Tamika Catchings, Debra Lee, Phyllis Newhouse, and Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.

Honorary Membership is the highest honor extended to women who have made significant contributions to society while excelling in their chosen fields. We welcome these exemplary women into our beloved sisterhood with great joy and love!

APPLICATION DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO MONDAY, APRIL 10TH, 2023 BY 11:59PM (EST).

The Mid-Hudson Valley Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. presents the 2023 Scholarship Program.  

 

This scholarship is open to all African-American/African-Caribbean/African or Latina female graduating seniors for the academic year 2022 - 2023.

The scholarship eligibility criteria is as follows:

•    Minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 85

•    Demonstrated leadership skills, Community Service

•    Acceptance at a 2 year or 4 year Accredited Institution 

•    NYS Resident of (Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, or Ulster Counties)

The application & all supporting documents MUST BE submitted electronically. APPLICATION DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO MONDAY, APRIL 10TH, 2023 BY 11:59PM (EST).

 

The supporting documents must include:

Official High School Transcript

Essay (500 Words/from writing prompt)

Delta GEMS

The Mid-Hudson Valley Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. presents Dr. Jeanne L. Noble "DELTA GEMS" a free program for young women high school Ages 14-18 (Grades 9-12). The Delta GEMS Youth Initiative program features free workshop topics on: Education (Colleges/Universities - Virtual Tours), Discovering Careers, Finance and Budgeting “Show me the money”, STEM projects & Opportunities, and “Health and Wellness”.  The Delta GEMS program offers a road map for college and career planning through activities that provide opportunities for self-reflection and individual growth. Delta GEMS, like Delta Academy, is implemented by chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Delta GEMS participants have the opportunity to define and “Discover their individual Brilliance.”   Application is required and participants must be approved by parent or guardian.
